Position Summary:
Seattle Iron & Metals Corporation has immediate openings for experienced heavy equipment maintenance mechanics. Our fleet of heavy equipment includes cranes (hydraulic crawler and rubber-tired), front end loaders (980 CAT), skid steers and forklifts. Adherence with company safety and environment standards is a must.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of and experience in standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions
- Ability to read manuals and schematics
- Ability to use gas and electric welding equipment
- Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment and supplies
- Ability to clearly communicate in English
Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, hear audible warning signals, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operating and moving various tools and equipment may require dexterity to push, pull, climb, bend, twist, turn, reach, etc.
- Personal protective equipment is required given multiple hazards typical of scrap yards
- Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
Work Hours:
Daytime and evening positions are available. Occasional overtime may be required
